The Australian National University, informally known as ANU, was established by an Act of Parliament on 1st August 1946. The university is a public university and was founded with the legislated purpose of promoting and conducting research in Australia. The Australian Defence Force Academy or, ADFA is military academy that provides both tertiary education, and military training for junior officers of the Australian Defence Force. ADFA provides training to officers in the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), Australian Regular Army (ARA), and Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). ADFA additionally provides post graduate study options for civilians, public servants and for senior Australian Defence Force personnel.
