Nahie B. Communication Says : |
I studied at both USYD and UWS and out of the two I found UWS to be a lot more hands-on which definitely benefits students once they graduate. My major was journalism and while we did do a lot of theory, our assignments were not essay or exam based instead we were to submit articles, this gives students a chance to extend their acquired knowledge in a teaching environment, so they can learn and develop.
For example, Magazine Journalism, we were required to write an article that would fit in with a particular magazine but in submitting the article we would also have to present research into the magazine, to prove that we knew the magazine and the audience, for News Reporting for Convergent Media our articles had to be publishable online, Television Journalism we were given an opportunity to not only learn to use and speak in front of a camera but we learnt to edit and present news stories fit for television. Our tutors are the best! They are experienced in the industry, which provides us with insight into the field.

Patsy B. Arts (Hons.) Says : |
I had the choice of going to either uni NSW or Western Sydney, the deciding factor was thay UWS took only 13 - 17 Art history & criticism students, yet we would get the same lecturers as Uni NSW, plus at the time UWS had one of the best reputations for art, and we would each get our own studio space from year one. That would firstly be the best part about UWS, the second would be living on campus.

Location - close to home, and it's a small campus so everything is a bit more personalised and friendly.

Michael B. Arts Says : |
The best thing about UWS is probably the small classes and personal feel to the tutorials. Many of the classrooms and lecture theaters were also rather new.
