Jess B. Medical Radiation Says : |
Everything we need is readily available for us to use. For example there are multiple computer rooms in every building, we have x-ray suites to use during our practicals so we can get as much hands on experience as we can.
Uni SA also provides all students with knowledge about how to research using databases and also how to correctly reference in the first year of any undergraduate course. This pretty much sets you up for the remainder of the course.
There are also a lot of social events through the uni which provide students with the opportunity to get to know people in their year level of the course and also students in higher years of the course.

Kate B. Management (Marketing) Says : |
I undertook alot of my classes externally, so for me, I found it really useful the way the classes, materials (including course information) were laid out online. The website was really easy to navigate which may sound minor, but when all of your studies are via internet corresspondence it makes a huge difference.
Im currently undertaking my Masters Degree externally through RMIT, and I have found that UniSA provided alot more feedback and information for their students. Not only do they provide lecture slides for each week, they also upload voice recordings to go with them. That enabled me to keep up with the internal students, but be more efficient in the way that I could select what information I needed explained further, and not focus on information which I already knew.

Lars B. Visual Communication Says : |
The best thing about my University? Well, I suppose it is best to start with. What is the best thing about the University experience in the first place. For me, the main thing that differentiates University from school is the facilitation and support of your work as opposed to 'spoon-feeding'. At UniSA, they had open areas and places where you can research in peace, while also having an active and engaging weekly student newspaper and many student based societies for sport, religion, international students.. etc.
While also having regular bbq days, DJ's perform in the Quadrangle, beers, pizza, fairy floss... I think one of the keys of spotting a good university is to look for signs of a healthy selection of extra-curricular student initiatives.
Most of the learning at university happens outside the lecture/studio setting, it happens between the students themselves. If students are socialising and are engaged with each-other, it will show in there work and overall satisfaction with their university experience.

Tiff B. Psychology (Honours) Says : |
Support. From the very beginning of my degree (almost 4 year ago now) I was able to meet with my course coordinator to discuss subject choices. Campus central and learning connection are available to students to assist students with any problems they may encounter.
There is also a mentor program employed now, where more experienced students are able to provide practical assistance to new students. I am currently a mentor, and cannot praise the program enough.

Bull B. Social Work Says : |
Well i came from the University of Western Sydney to University of South Australia, so i can make a good comparison to the both. The whole set up of UniSA is so much better, i get the classes i want and not have to be online the moment the classes open to TRY and get the classes i want.
Classes seem to link up quite well to, for example there is a lecture for a subject and tutorial for the same subject on the same day. Instead of having tuts linked to lectures on odd days. The teachers are much better and there is more freedom to do external courses if you want to.

Kage B. Engineering (Civil) / B. Project Management (accelerated) Says : |
The best thing about my uni is that is has offered my and a few other high achieving students the option to participate in an accelerated course. This is the first time the accelerated course has been run, however depending on our experiences, this may be available to high achieving students in the future.
Along with other things, this shows that the students, and their experiences are one of the unis priorities. ie. they can personally cater to meet your needs.

Kristin B. Professional Writing & Communications/B. Communication & Cultural Studies Says : |
I was fortunate enough to be tutored by the Professional Writing team who were awarded the best teaching team in Australia a few years back. They were amazing in terms of the range and depth of their knowledge in their respective fields, and they were genuinely encouraging towards the students. Generally, the tutors were all passionate about what they did and were certainly not doing it for money.

Annie B. Design (Visual Communications) Says : |
There weren't a numerous things about the University of South Australia that were particularly impressive nor poor in standard. I was, however, satisfied with the level of professionalism my one chosen course focussed in bringing out the outstanding in students.
I was really pleased with libraray's expansive art section and the artistic atmosphere that spawned from the spread of creativity and communal innovation.
