Rosie B. Teaaching (Primary)/B. Early Childhood Studies Says : |
I love having a church on campus and Christian activities and opotunities to meet with other Christians as it really helped me settle into uni so much better that anything else. The shuttle bus was a brilliant idea that was implemented this year and has been running ever since. it's a free bus that after 4pm drives students around campus and after 6.30pm drops students from uni to their doorstep in near by suburbs so they don't have to walk home in the dark or the rain.
The support for disability students is great, friendly and suppportive. Getting involved with them was the best thing for my studies. The uni has an adaptive technology centre for those registered with the disability service this means that I always have access to a computter and a quiet room and I also get my printing for free. The friendly staff at the post office on campus. I love having a post office and bank services at uni. I love the dvd collection at the uni library cause now it means that I can watch movies on study breaks for free not that I should be watching movies lol. Even the educational resources are fantastic!

Josh B. Physiotherapy Says : |
I'm biased because I didn't try everything, but I would say Newcastle Christian Students! The friends I made there are awesome! Even more than my course, through NCS I learnt about how to think for myself and to see the big picture of life. And more important than either of those, NCS taught me heaps about Jesus and the significance of his death and resurrection.

Rach B. Visual Communication Design Says : |
There are plenty of Networks revolving around certain regular activities and subjects. You can find a group, stick to it and make friends that go beyond the group meetings or casually enjoy whats on offer. I've found the rigorousness of the teaching, both educationally and religiously extremely encouraging. It's always great to know that the teachers value their subject, and industry enough to be asked any hard question and take it seriously. And nothing beats the scenery and the beach shared with friends over hot chips.

Nicholas B. Psychology Says : |
The Shortland hub is a great place to get something to eat, drink and there's a study room (Brennan room). The uni also has a lot of greenery and it's well maintained, the lecturers and tutors (at least, in psychology) are very helpful. All in all, it's a very nice place.

Coll B. Teaching/ B.Arts Says : |
My university is quite large however i do my classes on a small campus, this allows for students to interact with lecturers in a different way than most university's as they get to know us as people and not nameless faces in a lecture theater. we are also a small campus from a larger university therefore we have access to a wide range of resources that some smaller university's would not have available.

It's smaller but not too small. There's lots of natural bushland around which is lovely. Plus everything is so close in Newcastle!

Definitely joining groups and getting to know heaps of people, there are so many options... academic, religious and sporting groups will all be there in O week, so have a look around, decide what you want to join up to and sign up, its all loads of fun, and a great way to meet people!!! ps the best groups are definitely Nudiscs (ultimate frisbee) Mountaineering club (rock climbing, bush walking and loads more) and of course Newcastle Christian Students, be sure to check them all out!!!

Cassandra B. Teaching/ Ba. Early Childhood Says : |
We have a great staff at the U, which is the replacement for the student union. They do what they can to make uni fun and give everyone the chance to be involved in what happens on campus. They put on great events and they hold the O Week expo so that everyone has an opportunity to see what our uni has to offer.

The best thing about Newcastle Uni I guess would be the facilities. I was fortunate enough to be mostly based in the brand new building, which had many mac-labs, computer access/projector access in the clasrooms and overall lovely modern facilities.
